Inspired by the above image in this book, I made a new mat for our bathroom from my fabric scrap box: lots of small floral prints in dark greens and blues, patchworked together with an old towel as the backing fabric. Therefore it can be used as a bath mat. 'Ha, quilts everywhere', said Tom.
The bathroom in this rented house of ours is rather 'rustic' with some old-fashioned louvered windows made from textured glass. They are quite draughty, but they do let lots of sunlight in too. When we moved in there were some brightly coloured curtains with fish on them, but I've made it feel a little more 'us' (or I should probably say 'me') by sewing a new curtain: plain cream cotton with some appliqued antique crochet pieces. Crafty solutions feel fitting for this old house.
