This is part of an exhibition called 'Teppet 10,000 Blomster' that I went to see in Bergen at the Norsk Trikotasjemuseum (Norwegian Knitting Museum.) German textile artist Ursel Arndt put together the installation, using many, many handmade flowers. There is more information about the piece here (if you can understand Norwegian.)
I loved the grand scale of the work- the colourful extravagance of so many bright little pieces of crochet, knitting and embroidery. The backing fabric is a fine calico cotton, and the whole work is placed against a large glass wall, letting the sun shine through the fabric and all the small spaces between the flowers.
I took so many pictures there, because i kept seeing more and more flowers that I wanted to capture- but here are a few of them. They make me want to get out my needle and threads, for sure.
