We're lucky enough to be enjoying a second proper summer holiday- this time with Tom's parents, who have come to visit us from New Zealand. Tomorrow we'll be catching a train to visit some friends of theirs in Bergen, up north. So I will be having another week away from my blog.
We've loved having yet more family here, and have been hanging out at the beach (first Norwegian swim yesterday..), eating nice summer stuff like fresh salads made by Tom's Mum Clare and shelling our own peas. Our nasturtiums are finally ready.
...and walking in the lanes inspecting all the new wildflowers in bloom. Clare knows heaps about plants and gardening, and yesterday she picked these from along the side of the road, and told me the names of all the weeds that are new to me.
I made this small embroidery of some chamomile flowers, which seem very Scandinavian to me. Actually, I think I remember a shampoo ad from my childhod (maybe Timotei?) with a tanned woman picking these from a field, her long blonde hair shining in the sun. She must have come from these parts.
I embroidered this in silk, onto olive green Danish linen. I splurged in the local embroidery shop a while back, and bought some of this lovely stuff.
See you next week! x
