This purple fabric takes me back to my hippy days. There were years when I would collect various pieces of fabric- mostly scarves and saris- from markets etc, with the hope of making something to wear with them, but there was never quite enough fabric for a skirt or top.
Being European, our local secondhand shop has a huge basket of square scarves I made this new top for summer, using this pattern again, but re-drawing the neckline to be more square. And I just managed to squeeze the main part of the top and the lining from one square scarf, so that was pleasing. I used some oatmeal-coloured linen for the bodice piece.
And now I can reinstate my hippy look, which I was rather big on as a teenager and university student, but have somewhat brushed under the carpet since coming to Norway.
And now, a few flickr favourites of mine that inspired the sewing of my summer clothes, and might inspire you too.
- happy weekend, friends!
