This was the view from the front door of the little villa we stayed in last week. The Croatian island we visited with my parents was beautiful. Winding alley-streets, wooden shutters, crumbling stone walls with pink bourganvillea spilling over. Bright, hot sun and trees laden with cicadas to sit under between swims.
Thanks to Tom's good driving and our GPS we managed to make it through Italy and Croatia without any dramas. And we made sure to take lots of stops to sample coffee and pizza, just because we could. I'm going to do a cheese-detox this week to make up for it. It was so worth it though.

We took a long route home driving through Italy, so I took a longer break from blogging than I had intended. I think it was really good for us all to take a complete break from the internet and the normal routine- something we should do more often! And I arrived home today feeling grateful for, and inspired by the warm Mediterranean sun and the people we met there. And our first visit to Venice on the way home- I'll share some photos from there tomorrow.
When we arrived back at our little yellow Norwegian house, A and K declared that, actually, this is the favourite place they'd visited yet. And I agree- just as exciting as embarking on an adventure is the return home.
