We have many small bits of lego lying all over our little house. It's Arlo's new passion- building little trucks and ambulances and cement mixers. Which is great, except that he doesn't always enjoy putting the little pieces away when he's finished playing with them. So this week I made him a special lego play mat. The idea came from Tom's Mum Clare who once mentioned she had made something similar when her boys were small.
It's just a big square of denim fabric, with a serged edge, and small tabs sewn from cotton twill tape stitched at intervals around the edge. Then I threaded a length of the same tape through the loops, so the mat can be pulled up into a bag. The idea is that he can play with the lego on the mat, so he won't have to pick up any pieces afterwards. That's always good.
