What is it about little boys and bruised knees? Arlo always seems to have a collection of bruises in varying stages on his legs, that also correspond to the holes in the knees of his pants or shorts. Must be all that running around at school and in the garden, and kneeling down to play with trains. So I decided a new set of summer clothes was in order for him.
So far I've made these pairs of shorts- 'train shorts' using Japanese linen from Matatabi for the back pockets, and the other pair of denim shorts have big front pockets and a paper plane embroidered below the knee. At least, it's supposed to look like one.
And this is another pair- his favourite shorts from last summer, that needed a little patching. This is some 'dutch countryside' linen from Superbuzzy. Next: to try making t-shirts for him. I do have an overlocker/serger, so I suppose there's no excuse to be scared of knits.
