The kind lady who works at the music school next door to our house gave me a punnet of sweet pea seedlings a month or two ago. And since then they've been growing, very slowly, against the railings outside our house. This week, pale pink and mauve flowers burst into flower and I was surprised: I didn't know I could grow something so lovely as that. Even though I didn't have much to do with it.
Can you imagine their scent? It's sharply sweet and fragrant. I had to do some embroidery inspired by them: especially those fine and curling tendrils they put out which are at once beautiful and sinister.
I used pastel-coloured threads on grey wool felt to make this brooch- it's part of my shop update today.
