Tom's parents looked after the children for us for two nights this week, and as a little thank you gift, I made Clare this case for her glasses. I saw the idea in a library book called 'The Impatient Embroiderer' by Jayne Emerson - it's a great book actually, with lots of good ideas for projects, many of which involve machine embroidery.
I made the little case from a sturdy dark green cotton with lines of stitching running over it, and lined it with some rose-print cotton flannel with a rose applique.
When the children came home this morning they were in such a good mood (they always are after a stint in the country with grandparents) so we made the most of it and baked together. Banana and chocolate muffins to put on my new plate (vintage Crown Lynn from the second-hand shop.). It's going to be a good day.
