feathery

I finally cut into some finely woven wool fabric I'd had for a while- I think it's quite old, but I can't remember where it came from. It's brown with a print of little coloured feathers all over. I made a simple top- loose with a gathered neckline. Similar in design to this pattern from the Japanese 'Stylish Dress Book', but I adjusted it a bit to fit onto the shape of fabric I had. I think it will be nice to wear over a dark brown winter merino top and under a cardigan- both of which I'm slowly building up my collection. Can't survive a NZ winter without them!
I found this 'NZ botanical art' calendar in a nearby shop and am very much enjoying the illustrations- I'm almost looking forward to the year ending so I can cut them up. Hope you have a great weekend.
