a light

I finished this embroidered piece over the week, stealing moments whenever I could to work on it. Which meant, I mostly stayed up much too late, obsessively stitching.

I did my usual free-form style, which I now realise might not be the best for when 'writing' in embroidery, but it was a good challenge. Tom says it looks exactly like my handwriting anyway, so I'm okay with that.

I was definitely inspired by this Nordic landscape, which still feels somewhat foreign and exotic to the New Zealander in me. But then there is a definite 'light' about it- an ancestral memory, perhaps.
