painterly
Last year I found an old book by the German children's author Janosch called Just One Apple and recently, I found another by this author: 'Josef med tryllefela', published 1967. I adore the illustrations- actually, they remind me a bit of my blog-friend Julia's artwork (you can see more here) with that painterly, quirky style.
Thought you might like to have a look through the book too:

We have lots of Janosch at home, but i´ve never seen this one before. I really like the style, ah and that last picture with the big ant and lots of sunflowers is super!

I own some Janosch books but not the one you present. I do love both the writing style and the pictures...

I love the ant. Reminds me of the ones we made at primary school with our thumb prints and ink.

yay for Janosh. And thank you for the honor of comparing our styles. For someone who grew up with his books and can still recite most funny passages by heart, that's about the greatest compliment.

i used to love 'the little bear and the little tiger' book. they live together in the woods and one of them collects mushrooms and the other fishes.
