horseshoes
I've been doing a bit of printing on fabric this week, using my gocco machine. These little shoes were made by printing with brown ink onto beige linen, using these screens which i thought would be sweet teamed up with some Liberty lawn I have (i've used it here on the reverse side.) I like using my gocco to print on fabric, I'm hoping to do a bit more experimenting with it on the weekend.
All in all, good shoes for walking in the forest... or, being carried, as the case may be.
Today I re-stocked my etsy shop with lots of new baby shoes. But I think these folksy 'horseshoes' have to be my favourite. Something about having a horse on one's shoes appeals to me.
Thank you for all your kind comments on yesterday's post. I read them to Arlo, and he was Very Pleased. If you're wondering where you can get big rolls of paper like that, I'm pretty sure you can buy similar reams of newsprint at art supply/stationary stores, but we bought our roll of recycled newsprint from Ikea- just happened to see it amongst all the children's toys and furniture. Back in our pre-Ikea days, I sometimes taped together pieces baking paper, tracing paper, or dressmaker's paper, then turned it over, ready for drawing/building tracks/lego on. The fun goes on...

I wish I had small feet :D
Lovely fabric...I really need to try the gocco.
My children have the same wood-train, I was very inspired by yesterday's post, thank you for sharing!

I love your printed linen, it's wonderful, looks like it's worked really well. [If i don't get a gocco machine next birthday, i'm buying myself one and that's that. :)]
And.. i bought the horse shoes. I'm not sure who for, because they certainly won't fit me!

Oh Melissa those are great! I can't pick a favorite, but I think I'm leaning toward the ones you printed yourself. So perfect! I love the little trees.

Hi Melissa, I've admired your shoes for a long time now and finally I can resist no longer and must buy some - now that I have some little girl toes to put in them - and now that you've moved to the other side of the world - silly me!
Just wondering if another shop update may be coming soon - I'm in love with the rose ones you've done lately - that have all sold!

Way too slow to snap up the shoes of course, it looks like you'll be busy at the post office sending out all of those! I looove the birch print shoes, would you make a custom 0-6month pair for me?

The shoes are all so cute and I love that you printed some of the fabric yourself, sounds fun! Love Arlo's town from the last post too.

Just had to congratulate you, Arlo, on your magnificent city. The drawings look so detailed, you must have been busy for hours. Looks like you have some nice new lego. Big kiss, and one for Keira too.

Those shoes (all of them) are wonderful!
We used to get big rolls of paper from the local newspaper office. I think they just called them "end rolls" and gave them for free or a few dollars, depending. They were the ones that didn't have enough paper left on them to bother threading them thru the machine. Some were thinner for the daily pages, and some heavier paper for the "magazine" pages (like the weekend guide).

I love your booties. I was going to ask my daughter which to order for a shower we are going to the first Saturday in April and the all the ones I loved are GONE.
That happened last time too. Which is a good thing--they are well loved! Now I know just order and get them while I can.
I enjoy your blog so much and just made the French press cosy for my daughters.

Don't you just love IKEA for kid's stuff! I do, but I love your shoes more! I would love a pattern for them in toddler sizes. They'd make great slippers!
