winter beach path
We discovered a little path over the weekend that leads to this winter beach. I think of it as that because I can't imagine it in summer. It's so perfect in its deserted state, with frosty grass on the edge of the sand. Yes, there's something very calming about a beach in winter.
Inspired by these colours, I made an apron which is something I've been wanting to do for a long time.
It's a present for a friend who is a wonderful cook. I used the 'reversible apron' pattern from Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing and am so thrilled with this design- especially the slightly fitted shape. I am already looking forward to making another one. This side is a cotton in blue, white and brown stripes, and the reverse is a crisp chocolate brown linen-blend.
The applique on one side is a direct copy of the one in the pattern. It's unimaginative of me, but I really liked the little vases with the embroidered stems.

How perfectly peaceful it looks at your winter beach. I love the apron, you've inspired me to give it a go. My Lotta book is due back at the library in 3 days...

It's true - there is nothing better than the beach on a quiet winters day - the sun dappling the water or the clouds reflecting the grey of the sea......it is truly a great place to be!
I love your apron!!

How lovely to find the little path to the beach, which is a wonderful place for families year round! Maybe you will inspire me to take mine to the beach too! I think they would love it.
The apron looks so pretty on you. I guess you will want to make another for yourself too!

Lovely work! Your embroidery is quite nice, and that chocolately colour! What a gift!
Also, I really love that yellow bead-board behind you.
Can you beat a winter walk in pink boots? I don't think so.

Yay!! I can leave you comments again. Goodness knows what I had done.
I have so loved seeing your beautiful pictures of winter and the lovely landscape you live in. You know I actually prefer the beach in winter. Is that weird? (Idon't swim so the beach in summer just means sand in my pants and sunburn!)

I have seen and read about you using this Lotta Jansdotter book so much, I think I might have to ask the library to consider buying it in!! The apron looks fantastic! I love Tahuna beach in winter, especially when it is slightly stormy and there is a certain electricity in the air. Feels like Im in Scotland or somewhere romantic like that!! :o)

The little vases were the first thing that caught my eye when I initially looked through the Lotta book.
I'm sure that you're all going to be making good use of that gorgeous beach throughout the year.
Hope that all's well with you.
Bye for now, Al.
