I was lucky enough to do a swap with Sharilyn of Lovely Design recently. I knew that her work was very special, but it wasn't until I saw it in real life that i really fell in love with it. She sent me a selection of her beautiful products- notebooks, a mail set made from vintage maps and recycled paper (yes, that's Norway on the envelopes!):
and two travelling journals: one that i think would be especially good for drawing in, filled with lovely blank pages; and the other a book for writing, the pages comprised of different bits and pieces of found paper such as old envelopes, ledger and graph pages. Interestingly, you can find out the origins of some of the papers here.
Although the temptation is to leave these pristine and new, at the same time I am really looking forward to filling them up with words and drawings over the next year or so. You can see some pictures of the Lovely Design studio in Vancouver, BC here. Thank you for everything, S!

Over the next week or so, 'tiny happy' is going to turn into a photoblog of sorts. This is so that I can finish my long packing/organising list without having to abandon my afternoon blogging habit. Because, well, I would miss it too much. xox
Tom's Mum Clare brought us two tadpoles over the weekend. They are now an almost-constant source of amazement and interest for the children (and me), and are swimming in a glass bowl outside the front door. We're hoping they will be able to catch a few insects out there in the sunlight. One of the tadpoles has grown back legs, and has been practicing his jumps. I'm very impressed- it can't be easy to jump through the water like that.
In crafty news, I finished a new collection of bags and listed eight of them in my shop this morning. I think that might be my last update from New Zealand, so that I can focus on other things like finishing up orders and Christmas presents. Oh, and packing up and cleaning the house, of course... *nervous laughter*...
This one is my favourite- good strong and sturdy corduroy but with pretty fabric inside, a nice surprise for the bag carry-er.
And now, we're off to the library to get some books about frogs.
My favourite item of clothing is an old handmade skirt I found at the opshop: worn, black velveteen cotton with small flowers on it, knee-length with big patch pockets. I would wear it every day, if I could get away with that. ('pleeease don't', I hear my family cry...) So I thought it might be time to make another one, just to give it a rest sometimes. It was very easy to make by tracing around my beloved black one, and I used a length of vintage wool viyella - dark brown with lighter brown flowers and leaves.
Not everyone's dream skirt, perhaps.. but I am quite pleased with it. And I'll be able to fit a lot of stuff in those pockets. Perfect.
