getting there
It's a relief to be slowly making my way through the list of things to do this month- thank you for tolerating my lazy blogging over the last couple of weeks! On the weekend K and I spent a messy afternoon baking Christmas cakes- a bit late, but never mind. I think about half of the mixture made it into the tin, and the rest was spread on K and throughout the kitchen.
This is a Christmas gift for Keira, as she is going through a pretty major ballet/dancing obsession right now. It all started when we found an old copy of Angelina Ballerina at the market, but has now progressed to the point where I must call her 'Angelina' and she refers to me as 'Miss Lily.' I'm trying to remain cool about the whole thing- you know, act as though I don't mind about her wearing the ballet outfit every single day, even over her swimsuit and sometimes to bed.
She has a couple of 'dancing' outfits already- but I thought she would freak out over the poufiness and real 'ballet-ness' of this one. And I found the instructions for this awesomely simple design here, and was so impressed with the tutorial I made a few for other small, dancing family members while I was at it.

Oooh that's beautiful! I think my K needs one or two, that looks quite easy!! Thanks for sharing!

When I first saw that picture it looked like that tutu had suspenders and I wondered how weird it was to make a tutu with suspenders. ;) My brain isn't operating too well lately...too much to do and not enough time!

It's all about the process with the christmas cake, and next year I must remember to make a double recipe! Tutu looks incredible. Perfect for a budding ballerina.

It's wonderful to be able to share your Christmassy stuff with you! It all looks wonderful. I have a Lily and we spent years with her being Miss Lily and me (or someone or something else) being Angelina! It passes!!!

K will love it - don't expect her to wear anything else for a while! how do you find these jewel tutorials?

Aww, that is so sweet. I love childhood obsessions, although I 'spect it can get a little tedious for the parent after a while. Lovely tutu, too!

I'm making three of those skirts this year too, though in a much less classy (i.e. bright and sparkly and tasteless!) netting. So easy and effective, eh?

too cute. my daughter still likes angelina. not as much as a few years ago, but still. her 5th birthday was an angelina party!

I feel you about the ballet stuff, my girl LOVES Angelina also, though she hasn't taken to calling me Miss Lily yet! She is in Dance so I think that takes care of her Miss Lily/Jamie need!
Love that tutu, thanks so much for sharing that, I am going to the store tomorrow to get the supplies!
Great job!

I just made one of these for my daughter and niece. I loved how simple it was and I can't wait to see the two cousins dance together in their tutus.

So I was reading an educational mag - fresh in today and there was an article that jumped out that was obviously about your husband and his trip! Fame :) I was quite excited and other staff members don't "get" blogging and why I was excited about seeing the husband of someone I have never met. **sigh**
Not long to go for younow. Best of luck with the move and the transition to your new life.
