it's raining again
I tried to cheer up our dark and slightly dreary living room (the walls are painted dark blue) with some new cushions last week. Making these was quick and easy, and a fun way to use up small pieces of left over barkcloth and wool fabric. Here they are with my in-house model, demonstrating the comfiness of the feather pillow:
And some pink ones- made from an old curtain and a linen tablecloth.
To make the one on the right, I used an idea from Bend the Rules Sewing (ahem, yes- another one) where I did a bit of free-motion quilting and hand-stitching onto the top piece of fabric, before sewing it onto the wool cover. Most of the cushions have envelope-backs, which I think is the easiest to make and to have around little people.
The children have had a lot less sleep than usual this weekend, and it's showing, if you know what i mean. For extra fun, this morning K and I are off to help out at Arlo's kindergarten, in the rain... wish us luck!

So lovely. I can see I NEED that book. Just love the model. We are doing rain and wind today. An inside sort of day. Trisha

I love the cushions! Need to add cushions to my project list. Geepers, at this rate I'll never be able to get a job... too much sewing to do!

Yum - these are so good - I especially love the rose one with the stitches.
Best of luck with the tired children - the weather doesn't help, huh?
There are packages coming your way this week - I had to send in more than one instalment because I had a bunch of smallish courier bags someone gave me.

I love that rose cushion and the yawning/shouting model!
I have had a new cushion cover 95% finished for about 4 months- just can't seem to get round to finishing it. It's going to be one of those projects- you know that take an hour and six months to do!

You're a sewing whizz, young lady. They're all gorgeous, I couldn't pick a favourite if I tried.
I have BtRS on hold at the library - hopefully it will be my turn to read it before too many months have passed. Sounds a fun book.
