lanterns and links

Sailinglanterns

This was the view standing on the edge of the harbour at night, watching the paper lanterns float away. I attended a wonderful party on Saturday and our friend Anna organised this fleet of lanterns to be sent out to sea to celebrate a 30th birthday. They were made from pieces of bamboo, skewers and tissue paper, and inside, bark on which to rest the tea-light candle.

It was a great night with music, pizza, dancing, new and old faces, dress-ups starting with "D" (dairy farmer for me), and a star-lit walk back to our cabin just before the sun came up again.

And, because I don't have much else to show you today, here are some of my best finds online over the past week or so. Click away...

in which lovely NZ spot was the celebration?

sounds ;ike a nice evening

What a beautiful nighttime photo- I often find a night scence hard to capture the way I want to. That jewellery is just lovely. I've been wanting some new stuff for a while and have been cruising etsy. Maybe a good self-gift for when I graduate!

sounds like a great night for you and Tom :o)

listening to Amandas podcast right now.
thanks!

Lovely, lovely, lanterns. So peaceful.

I have been drooling over the address file at lovely design for ages.
I have a pocket book which I ordered a long time ago. I think I will keep it forever. Even though whats in it is a bunch of gobbly gook.
Lists, notes, design ideas.

getting ready to follow your links my dear! sounds like you guys had a fabulous weekend.

What a way to celebrate a birthday, it sounded amazing. It reminds me of watching the Buddhist monks and Hindus in India (via the wonders of TV - if only I'd been there!) sail their little boats of leaves and brightly-coloured fabric down the gangees. Amazingly spiritual.

Hi I just found your blog and really like it, I will be visiting again soon.

Turkish coffee...I fell in love with it in Bosnia, but can't find it anywhere here...still trying to make my own!

sending lanterns out, how poetic :)
