a sign
Spring is all around us here, in the air and the garden, and the sun streaming through onto the kitchen table. This week I've been working on some bags for my shop, but with quite an autumnal feel to them. It seems I can't escape the brown and orange fabric...
Yesterday I received a wonderful package from Caireen in Scotland filled with beautiful things- caramel fudge, Kate Bush cds and this amazing embroidered linen:
I had to take some deep breaths after unwrapping this. As you can see, it's pretty gorgeous. The piece with the blue and white flowers is a tea cosy, I think. Imagine being delicate enough to keep it so beautiful and free from stains!
She also sent some beautiful springy embroidery threads that she found, along with vintage patterns and all this has made me desperate to practice embroidery. It must be a sign to get out my hoops and linen.

Lovely stuff! You're so lucky to receive a package like that : )

everytime I see that brown fabric with the bird and orange flowers I get exited. I have the exact same fabric. I found it as a sheet at a thrift store. While I have lots of it. I have only used a small amount- for a baby blanket. For some reason I can't bring my self to use it for anything. Seeing your cute bags made out of it inspires me though. Maybe the perfect project will pop in to my head soon!

Oh wow, I'm loving that little smiling bluebell. I wonder if I could put down my knitting needles long enough to cross stitch one of those?

Ah, I love autumn colored fabric. Brown and orange is indeed the very best of combinations. Dunno what it is about embroidered stuff - every new-to-my-eyes piece has the power to make me feel happy, even though we've all seen embroidered doillies everywhere, they have some sort of magical quality that never grows old, it's pretty amazing really, the ladies who made them wouldn't have imagined it. Or maybe they would.

Doesnt it feel wonderful! Things are actually starting to grow now and the sparrows have stoped eating them.
The bags look truly beautiful. I love the colours.
