babies, rain and cardigans

Another icy cold and rainy day today, so we've been spending the morning indoors with Gillian Welch on the stereo and hot drinks on the table. I finished off a bag using the sweet brown bird fabric sent by Amisha on the front and some nice tweedy brown wool on the back for sturdiness:

... and some new recycled wool wrap-cardies:

I'm really enjoying making these, and I've modified the design a little, so that they really wrap around rather than tie inside like the batch I made last week. I think that by having a small hole in one side to thread the tie through, they will fit for a longer time and be less bulky on one side. I've listed the latest three in my shop, along with the brown bag.

This afternoon we're driving out of town to see my sister and her three little girls: my youngest niece is growing so quickly now! I got to have some time with her last week:

... just soaking up her fine baby skin and smell... she is very sweet!

Hope you have a great weekend. x

those cardigans are just too cute melissa! i adore them!

I love the wrap around cardigans. Sam needs one of those. I love the Red and Blue one but Sam is 19 months and wears a size three and if I buy the pink one his Dad might never talk to me again.

Digging the wrap around tops, and the Sparrow fabric! *squeal*

such a sweet baby pic... i am constantly amazed at how much sewing you are able to get done despite being a busy mum :D

The cardigans are adorable, and your niece is very sweet.

Amazing cardigans - you have some an amazing eye for colour, texture and the ability to see new things in old.

Oh gosh beautiful bag, beautiful cardigans but....a so much more beautiful baby. She is so gorgeous. Mary

What a satisfying row of little cardis you've got lined up! Nothing like a rainy day to get your foot to the floor and some sewing done- its just a shame when you have to head out in it to walk the pup!

Someone else who listens to Gillian Welch! Favorites? (Mine: Make me a pallet, Lowlands...)

I wish my nieces were still small...they would be wearing those cute cardigans. Great bag, too.

Perfect little baby face. You can smell the sweetness...even halfway around the world.

Hiya, a crafty question from me today :) A while ago you screen printed a tshirt for Arlo, can you tell me if you used a screen printing kit or if you used the freezer paper technique? it is something I am considering but don't want to shell out on a kit if freezer paper is easier/more successful. I would appreciate any advice. Hope you are keeping warm and enjoying the school holidays! (But is your husband having a break or is he working hard lol?) Cheers, K.

Hi, I found your blog while googling around for tote bag tutorials- I love all your stuff!

I used your tutorial (it was great!) and I thought you might want to see the results - http://community.livejournal.com/sewing/262681.html#cutid1

Wow..what a sweet sweet baby! I love the bag-of course all of your bags are just lovely. The cardigans look so soft and snuggly...wonderful.
