scissors at the ready

Here are my new fabric finds for the week.  I love thinking about what I might do with each piece, but I'm not sure if i'm brave enough to cut into them yet...

Friday2

sturdy Sanderson linen, from 1982

Friday3

fine vintage linen/cotton, i think

Friday4

cotton flannel

Friday1

medium weight linen

I'm often asked where I get my old fabrics from. Most are from op-shops or the Recycling Centre (the second and third pieces above were from there), but I also have a favourite antique/vintage shop in town, which is where I found the green and brown linen. The piece at the top I found on Trade Me which is a bit like E-Bay for NZers. Hunting for old fabric can take up a lot of time but it's worth it!

I've had a great day hanging out with my beautiful neices, including baby Fern:

Wow, If I found just one piece of fabric like these at my recycling centre I think I would just keel over with excitement. You really find such lovely things. And those baby hands are just so very sweet. Enjoy those baby snuggles!

What beautiful fabrics, and you must have the most amazing stash! Not to mention your scraps bag..... I haven't sussed out the chch recycling centre, though I assume they have one. My fabric closet wouldn't cope with the influx of too much more though :(

gorgeous, gorseous fabric - you have a real eye for the good stuff. and i'm with you on the fabric hunting, it does take time and repeated visits to op shops but finding bits like that make it all worthwhile. have a great weekend!

They are all lovely, those fabrics, but I especially like the third one. Nice.

I'm quite happy to admit these days that I'm over babies but those sweet little fingers are making me swoon. Sweetness.

Happy weekend dear Melissa.
xx

Melissa, oh how I want to come shopping with you...such beautiful fabric!
As for baby fingers...really I don't need any more encouragement to feel clucky! First the baby shoes now the tiny hands!

I have to say, I really starting to feel the need to go and look in thrift shops for some exciting pieces of fabric...these patterns inspire me to look! I have managed to get some lovely curtain fabric samples very cheaply, the bag I have just made uses a sanderson print, I love it!

these fabrics are gorgeous, and so in keeping with the Charleston vibe! have a great weekend!

such lovely fabrics...can't wait to see what you do with them :)

Beautiful!

Fab fabric, I wonder what you will make from it when it is finally cut?

your finds are always so so good... why oh why are there no recycling centers here?? hmph. :)

I saw that top fabric on trade me and thought about getting it, but now that I see that it went to you, I am glad I didn't. let me know what you make from it.

oh baby sweet!

You have keen good eyes on fabric especially floral types. It's something I've to learn. I so adore the one on the top. I'm sure many more beautiful things are going to turn out again. :-) Happy weekend!
