for picnics

Winter is really settling in here this week, but in our letterbox we received something to encourage us to make the most of the sunny days we do have most weeks- this patchwork picnic rug. It was made by the sweet Amisha, who is currently travelling in Asia. She pieced it from different red and orange prints on a cream background, with a thick grey cotton on the back for durability.

It's big enough for all of us plus friends, and has already been put to use twice- we love it. I like how the fabrics are so distinctly Amisha-ish- i think of her warm personality whenever i see it.

She also sent this beautiful length of fabric. Thank you, and safe travelling, A.

Last night I finished working on this batch of corduroy and denim kid's pants for my market stall and etsy shop. I loved the look of them hanging on the washing line together while I was (trying) to take pictures but they didn't last long because it started to rain... again...

Wishing you warmth where you are!

What a beautiful picnic rug! And lucky you still able to use it :) The weather has been clear down here but it would be a long stretch to call it picnic weather! I especially love the little applique squares- like they escaped from the confines of the patchwork.

It's criminally cold here - I haven't taken my jacket off all day - I feel like a bag lady.

Hey - there's the little blue apples again - you have no idea how much I love seeing fabrics I've sent southwards being made into tinyhappy things! I also love that material with the little girls on it.

You blow me away with how constantly productive you are, clever thing.

Yes- I second that. You're forever sewing, and yet somehow doing other things too. it's amazing.
And I also second the freezing bit. criminey its cold today.
I love love love the little people fabric on the pockets of those pants (and the new pocket shape). Soooooo adorable.

That fabric that A. sent you is really pretty. We really need the rain here in Tennessee. It has been so dry, I'm hoping we don't lose any trees in this drought. We got some much needed rain yesterday and it really really helped. Hope you have some warm days left to enjoy!

I love how you're calling it a picnic rug! Such a perfect name and now it looks as though I may need to make a "beach rug" for my family!

And those pants..... too sweet for words, and I agree about them looking so sweet hanging on the line! Makes you want to squeeze them!

an awesome picnic rug and the fabric for those pants are perfect. summer really sets in here this week. pretty hot and pools of water are a must!

the blanket is amazing! lucky girl!
and i love those pants - what pretty pockets!

What a beautiful blanket! Love those pants too :)

What a delightful picnic rug! And your new pants are terrific :)

omg, i LOVE that picnic rug!!! oh that is lovely.

i love the pants you made - so cute.

It really is getting freezing, isn't it? Didn't want to do anything or go anywhere yesterday, it was too cold.

Whenever we move into a new house, I always like to hang some washed clothes on the line - it makes me feel like home, somehow.

Ha! So great those pants... i love them all!
You are truly gifted:)
