card-making
Now that Arlo has stopped having his afternoon naps, it's always a challenge to keep him entertained, yet fairly quiet, while Keira is asleep. Yesterday he was especially tired, so we sat down together with afternoon tea at the kitchen table. He's almost got the hang of using scissors, so we went through a big box of old paper and card and pictures taken from old books and magazines, and did some cutting and pasting.
Arlo 'custom-made' a few cards for two friends and a cousin, which we ceremoniously sent off at the Post Office this morning. (He was so excited!) Each card had a stuck-on picture of that particular friend's favourite animal, and a drawing of them holding hands on the front.
I used some of my precious stash of (mostly) old paper from appleseed, some vintage wallpaper samples and some other bits and pieces I'd collected, to make this set of blank cards, which I'm sure will be very useful to have on hand:
...or to give away in sets as small gifts:
Now I'm trying to decide whether I have the patience to make matching envelopes for each one...

I am definitely going to do this activity with Stella - kindy holidays start at the end of next week and this would be perfect!
You're an inspiration!

Beautious! Love the 2 floral ones kind of front and center, with the tonal matching paper for the back... great stuff

those are soo cute! Is that a flamingo one I see in the back? Now I have a purpose for all those pictures I've been saving from the annuals I cut up! I already have a shoe box almost full, by the time Aesop is old enough I'll have ka-jillions! : )

I just scored an old children's reader with some great pictures--I love your cards so much I might need to make some of my own. :)

I just found while on vacation a huge stack of Jack and Jill as well as Wee Wisdom magazines at an antique shop I picked up...great old pics.
By the way, I just finished my first purse and I used "your" shoulder bag tutorial to make it. Thank you sooo much for the tutorial because I have been fearful for sometime about making one. I posted a picture on my blog at http://wishesdreamslove.blogspot.com/ if you want to take a look at it. I did have to shorten the strap on this one because I seemed to have miscalculated the amount of fabric I needed, it still turned out nicely. I plan on making several more with a longer strap as you showed in the pattern. Also question about the pattern: is the strap wider at the bottom than the top where you connect it? Thanks again!

SO beautiful yet again over here!
I know the "wise" advice is to enjoy your baby at every stage, but I sometimes wish she could quickly become a little bigger/more independent so I would have more time for crafts. I am so inspired by what you make!
